Corona Virus (COVID-19)

We ALWAYS take our hygiene and cleaning standards very seriously even under normal conditions. We already do an antibacterial clean of ALL door handles, toilet levers, hand wash buttons, fruit machine, jukebox buttons etc etc very regularly .

We are taking all necessary steps so far to ensure that we do not knowingly aid this virus spreading.

Should the situation become more critical we will keep you all updated here. We wish all of our customers and friends good health.

Dear customers, the pub has had to close on 20 Mar 20 in line with Government direction.

However, to help you during the current crisis we will be offering a takeaway service of hot and cold meals.   See        for food & drink takeaway specials.

For opening hours see Home Page

NB we only take orders by phone.  Please note :

  • We are no longer able to accept orders via Facebook messages or Messenger .

  • You can reserve your time slot and place your order if you wish to in advance .

  • To maintain social distancing we allow fifteen minute slots .

  • There are just the two of us and if we are both working in the kitchen or elsewhere we are not monitoring social networking.

  • Thank you.

Phone us (01722 743336), pay by debit or credit card, arrange a time for collection, come to side porch and ring bell, step away from door and wait for us to pop it on unit for you and then pick up.

For those customers struggling to get some grocery items, we now have a small supply of:

We are not providing these grocery items to to make a profit, just to help; we are very concerned that some of our customers have nobody to help with shopping and when they manage to get to the shops, they are stripped bare and can not get their basic essentials. We will try to add a few other items when we can be them, such as toilet rolls, pasta etc as and when we can get any.

Important: please note, we are ONLY supplying people who live in SOUTH NEWTON with our limited supply of stock.  We are sure you understand that we cannot do it for everyone, it is to help our community and supplies are very limited. If we do not know you that’s fine but you will need to bring proof of address such as driving license or utility bill to prove you are living in the village . Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to helping where as when we can during these difficult times.

As we have still no information on grants / help with mortgage payments etc we do not know when or if we will re open.

Thank you to all of the loyal customers who have regularly supported us since we came here nearly four years ago, we wish you all good health and really hope we see you on the other side!
